Privacy Requests

1. How to make a privacy request
SafeLink Kids is operated by Juchepi Group (Pty) Ltd t/a SafeLink Kids. If you want to exercise a privacy right relating to personal information processed through SafeLink, you may contact the Information Officer at:

2. Requests you may make
Subject to applicable law, you may ask SafeLink to:
- confirm whether we process personal information about you;
- provide access to personal information held about you;
- correct or update inaccurate or incomplete personal information;
- delete or destroy personal information where the applicable legal requirements are met;
- object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- object to or unsubscribe from optional direct marketing; or
- provide information about a privacy decision affecting you.
3. What to include
To help us locate the correct records, please include enough information to identify the relevant SafeLink account, order, product, incident or interaction. Where possible, include your name, the email address linked to your SafeLink account and any relevant order, SafeLink or incident reference.
Please do not send unnecessary sensitive information or identity documents with your first request. If additional verification is reasonably required, we will tell you what is needed.
4. Identity and authority checks
Before disclosing, changing or deleting personal information, SafeLink may need to verify your identity, authority or relationship to the relevant account or record. Verification will be proportionate to the request and the sensitivity of the information involved.
If you are acting for another person, we may ask for reasonable evidence that you are authorised to act on that person’s behalf.
5. SafeLink-specific requests
For Guardian accounts, linked SafeLinks, Finder sessions, location information or incident records, additional relationship or safety checks may be required before information is disclosed or changed.
Routine non-incident Finder/location technical information and ordinary non-reported Relay content are subject to SafeLink’s short-retention controls, so some information may already have been deleted by the time a request is received.
6. PAIA requests
A request for access to a record under the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) is handled separately from an ordinary POPIA privacy request because different legal requirements may apply.

7. Direct marketing objections
If your request is only to stop optional marketing, state clearly that you want to unsubscribe or object to direct marketing. Marketing preferences do not affect essential service, security, account, order, payment, scan or Assistance communications that SafeLink is otherwise permitted or required to send.
8. What happens after you submit a request
We will record the request, carry out proportionate identity or authority verification where needed, locate the relevant records, assess the request under the applicable law and communicate the outcome through an appropriate channel.
Where information cannot lawfully be disclosed, corrected or deleted, we will explain the applicable reason to the extent permitted by law.
9. Complaints
If you are dissatisfied with how SafeLink handles a privacy request, contact the Information Officer at privacy@safelinkkids.co.za.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) through the Regulator’s official complaint channels.
